The Santa Clara River Valley, along Highway 126, offers a quieter side of Ventura County. Here’s an easy day trip.
Santa Paula
Start on Main Street in the historic downtown. The California Oil Museum tells the story of the region’s oil history, and the surrounding valley is known for its citrus groves.
Fillmore
Continue east to Fillmore and walk Central Avenue. The Fillmore and Western Railway runs historic trains from the area, and farmland and foothills frame the town.
Schedules and hours change, so check each place before you go. To learn more about living here, read my guides to Santa Paula and Fillmore.
